guzman Y Gomez

When we got wind that Guzman Y Gomez (GYG) was looking to relocate to their first ‘owned’ space we were excited by the prospect to work with such a dynamic company, brand, founder and team. It was evident from Steven Marks’s passion for all things GYG that we needed to deliver something on brand, with an urban ‘street’ edge, Steven’s passion for Mexican art and artists was an integral component of the brief and the art of Los Metzican added enormous impact to the open plan areas.

The arrival and reception space was designed using a variety of finishes and materials that evoke an industrial aesthetic with edgy unexpected elements including a newly constructed recycled brick wall which was then deconstructed to expose reo mesh and provide visibility into the kitchen/breakout space behind. We further used aged metal and recycled timber to create warmth and an urban ambience.

The outcome has been very well received by the client and they are loving having their own, unique home which celebrates the amazing brand and great people at Guzman Y Gomez. GYG is the first client we’ve worked with that had a margherita machine in the brief which is turned on first thing on a Friday morning in preparation for a lively Friday afternoon All Hands meeting! What a great place to work!
